The Spiderman House Reinvented

The Spiderman House
The Spiderman House, perched on the tiniest sliver of land, is a landmark known to many people up and down the Delaware River both in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.  Over the last year, it has been receiving a total makeover. This is the side facing the road, finished in a beautiful mahogany board.  It now has an elegant, modern facade.

For many years it stood abandoned, an eyesore on the river.  Surviving 3 floods and many years of neglect, the new owners, who purchased it at auction, put together a team to save the bones of the building, and rebuild on the same footprint.

The house is perched on the tiniest sliver of land, on the river side of the road, with views  on 3 sides of the house....it's not just on the river...it's just about in the river.    Hone + Associates, Lambertville, NJ, architect, and Jewel Construction, out of Lebanon, NJ are close to finalizing this project.

Stonework around the base of the site being finished.

This stone wall, which existed from the original construction had to be reduced by 3 feet to conform to current FEMA requirements.  John Houghton, the GC for this project said that in high water on the river, water will flow over the base of this site!...gives new meaning to experiencing the elements up close and personal.

As I pass by this site on my way to and from work I've watched the progression of the construction.  They are doing an excellent job on this sensitive site and it will be finished in a couple months.  From what I understand Spiderman both the cutout and other details will be added to the finished project.  I look forward to seeing the completed work.
